Museums in Osaka
Osaka is a vibrant city overflowing with history. Ancient palaces and temples dot the landscape and offer a glimpse of time gone by. Take some time to plan your visit to get the most out of your trip and see as much as you can. Here are a few places that we think you’ll love.
Osaka Castle
One of the most famous landmarks in the whole country, the Osaka Castle was built in the 1500s and continued to be an important royal residence through the 16th century during the Azuchi-Momoyama era. Visitors today can tour the castle and step out on an observation platform for panoramic views of the area. Take the time to wander through the picturesque gardens that surround the castle while you’re here.
Osaka Castle bag policy
You won’t find luggage lockers in the castle. Use our luggage storage service to explore the castle without carrying around shopping bags or suitcases. Instead of leaving your things at one of the busy train stations, drop them off at a Bounce partner location. We’re cheaper than storage lockers and always have availability.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
Located in the Minato neighborhood on Osaka Bay, this is one of the largest aquariums in the entire world open to the public. Walk through the aquarium and discover more about the different sea life and habitats of the Pacific Rim. This museum is famous for its recreation of the natural environment of each aquatic animal living here.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan bag policy
The aquarium does not have a baggage room so you’ll have to leave your belongings elsewhere. We have many luggage storage options nearby. Drop off your items with one of our highly-rated store partners while you spend a few hours at the aquarium. To create a booking, download our app available on both Android and iOS.
Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine
One of the oldest in Japan, the Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine is simplistic and showcases the clean architecture of Japanese design. Visitors are welcome but are asked to be respectful when entering. The grounds surrounding the shrine are well-maintained and open for people to stroll through. Festivals are held throughout the year, such as the New Year Festival.
Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine bag policy
Because it can get pretty busy and some of the terrain is steep it’s not recommended to bring bulky or heavy items into the shrine. We partner with local businesses to create luggage storage facilities and it’s super easy to book online in advance. Stow your stuff before touring the shrine and pick them up whenever is convenient for you, whether it be a few hours later or the following day.
