Museums in Dallas
Dallas is known for its museums, so you know you’re in for a real treat when you step into one. Below are some of the city’s best, but we recommend visiting any other museums you come across as well.
Sixth Floor Museum
The Sixth Floor Museum focuses on one of the most tragic events to happen in Dallas: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Make your way to Dealey Plaza and head to the sixth floor of the Dallas County Administration Building. The room with a cracked open window is where Lee Harvey Oswald carried out the crime back on November 22, 1963. Now, that floor is dedicated to chronicling the event and sometimes hosts special exhibits related to JFK and his family.
Sixth Floor Museum bag policy
This Dallas museum has a strict bag policy that doesn’t allow rolling suitcases or items measuring over 14” x 22” x 9” in size. Guests can store luggage at the front desk for a fee, or you may prefer to leave your bags securely stored at other luggage storage spots. To find convenient locations near you, simply check our app.
Nasher Sculpture Center
The Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the gems of the Dallas Arts District. Here, you’ll find one of the world’s most impressive collections of modern and contemporary sculpture art, housing over 300 pieces in total. Some of the sculptures were created by names like Gormley, Moore, Picasso, Serra, Shapiro, Giacometti, Calder, Ronin, and many more. Concerts, artists talks, and other special programs are sometimes held here.
