Top things to do in Dallas

Boasting attractions like the Dallas World Aquarium, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, the Reunion Tower, the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington (see our visitor guide to the park), and so much more, you’ll never find yourself without something to do in Dallas. In fact, your biggest challenge will probably be deciding what to do first. Below are some of our favorite activities. Check them out and see if any of them interest you.

Museums in Dallas

Dallas is known for its museums, so you know you’re in for a real treat when you step into one. Below are some of the city’s best, but we recommend visiting any other museums you come across as well.

Sixth Floor Museum

The Sixth Floor Museum focuses on one of the most tragic events to happen in Dallas: the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Make your way to Dealey Plaza and head to the sixth floor of the Dallas County Administration Building. The room with a cracked open window is where Lee Harvey Oswald carried out the crime back on November 22, 1963. Now, that floor is dedicated to chronicling the event and sometimes hosts special exhibits related to JFK and his family.

Sixth Floor Museum bag policy

This Dallas museum has a strict bag policy that doesn’t allow rolling suitcases or items measuring over 14” x 22” x 9” in size. Guests can store luggage at the front desk for a fee, or you may prefer to leave your bags securely stored at other luggage storage spots. To find convenient locations near you, simply check our app.

Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher Sculpture Center is one of the gems of the Dallas Arts District. Here, you’ll find one of the world’s most impressive collections of modern and contemporary sculpture art, housing over 300 pieces in total. Some of the sculptures were created by names like Gormley, Moore, Picasso, Serra, Shapiro, Giacometti, Calder, Ronin, and many more. Concerts, artists talks, and other special programs are sometimes held here.

For the safety of the museum’s artworks, visitors aren’t allowed to bring oversized bags, backpacks, umbrellas, or other bulky items into the museum. Storing luggage is never complicated with our luggage storage service. Keep your belongings safely out of the way at any of our baggage storage spots.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame

Many people think of cowboy culture when they hear Dallas, Texas. This museum embraces and honors the strong women who’ve played a part in shaping the American frontier into what it is today. Aside from cool exhibits displaying equipment and tools, the museum features two theatres, a library for research, and an archive collection dedicated to 750 notable women. Be sure to also check out what’s going on in the traveling exhibit space.

National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame bag policy

Are you planning to visit the National Cowgirl Museum for yourself? It’s important to note that the museum doesn’t allow large strollers, umbrellas, tripods, selfie sticks, or bags or backpacks measuring over 11” x 15”. We offer multiple locations for luggage storage near here so you can easily drop off your things on the way.

Going to museums is always fun, but not when dragging heavy luggage around. Since many museums have policies against big bags, you might not have a choice when it comes to bringing your belongings with you. We’ve got a solution to your luggage storage problem, and our many partner locations are always happy to watch over your things for a few hours while you explore Dallas.

Restaurants in Dallas

Being known for its great soul food and BBQ dishes, Dallas is an exciting spot for foodies to visit. The truth is, Dallas restaurants are quite diverse, so you can dine on a wide range of cuisines depending on where you go. To start, take a look at these spots.

Uchiba

Uchiba is an izakaya, a type of Japanese bar with an informal setting. The restaurant has a casual and comfortable atmosphere and is a great choice when you’re tired from a day of sightseeing. The menu has a variety of options, including delicious sushi meals and vegetarian dishes. Many people recommend the hot fried chicken bun served with pickles, the avocado nigiri, and the mushroom skewers.

The Mansion Restaurant

The Mansion Restaurant is a New American dining establishment set in an impressive manor. The grand building, complete with its beautiful European decor, is open for every meal of the day with irresistible options on each menu. Try the beef tenderloin served with steak fries dusted with paprika, cauliflower bisque, and pecan torte for dessert.

Afrah

This restaurant specializes in traditional Mediterranean and Lebanese cuisine. It’s been open since 2002, when three brothers wanted to open their own patisserie, and the food they serve is based on homemade recipes that their mother would make. Try the falafel plates, baklava, minced meat pies, or baba ganoush.

Book online at a nearby Bounce left luggage space before heading to the restaurant. By leaving your things in a temporary storage space, you’ll ensure that your heavy bags aren’t in the way at the restaurant. Simply drop by to pick them up whenever you’re done eating.
